Murder Mystery Games | Never played or run a game? Home

New to Murder Mystery Parties?

If you have never played or run a Murder Mystery Game before, they are great fun. Our games do not come in “Boxed” form, they are simply downloaded from the Internet, direct to your printer. From there you have all the information and instructions you need to run your own murder mystery party.

The games are designed so that everyone has a character to play on the evening. The games come with a table showing which characters you can use depending on the number of guests coming. Some charatcers are male, others female – but many are unisex. Some time before the event, you send out invitations so that each guest has a few lines of information about their character. Enough to get a costume if they want to and to get into the spirit of their character.

On the evening, different plots work in slightly different ways. You should download the free introduction for each game to get an idea of each plot line before you buy. Typically, the host will hand each guest their character at the start of the night – asking them not to open it until all the guests have arrived. The host will then introduce and set the scene with help from the game’s step by step guide, before the guests read their characters. The characters are never more than one sheet of paper. The character sheet tells the guest what secrets they have, heir motivation and their objectives for the game. In some games, guests also get props and money to use in the game to blackmail, bribe and otherwise grease the wheels.

What ensues is an interactive evening of fun and deception. The guests tend to work independently and in different ways. For some, the game is all about playing a character. For others it is all about solving a murder. For yet others, it is all about people watching and just seeing the ensuing plot unfold. During the game, your step by step guide will help you to bring in new clues and moderate the pace of the game and will also help you bring the game to a head with the denouement and prize giving.
